Williamson Park Survey

Backgound
Williamson Park Ltd has been awarded a planning development grant of £46,000 to investigate future options for the park and develop a stage 1 'Parks for People' application to the Heritage lottery Fund, HLF.

The process must demonstrate that; the community values the park as part of their heritage; the park meets local social, economic and environmental needs;the park actively involves local people. This has involved consulting with a variety of people using a range of methods, such as on-line surveys, face to face questionnaires and interviews.

The outcome of the application aims to; Increasing the range of audiences for the park; Conserve and improve the heritage value; Increasing the range of volunteers involved; Improve skills and knowledge through training and Improve management and maintenance. The deadline for the Stage 1 application submission is 30th September 2008. This is a competitive process and has a six months assessment time. The total grant available is up to £250,000.

Results Summary
The findings showed that that the park is well valued by the community and is performing to a good standard. Comments and suggestions for future development will be fed into the overall review process.

What Next
The results from all the consultations will inform the development of an Audience Development Plan for the park which will be completed by early September.
